blue and white

Today's outfit consists of a pale blue blouse tucked into white denim shorts. It embodies a fresh, refined look that is perfect for the summer!

As we were walking towards the bus stop, we discovered that new flowers had bloomed recently throughout the neighborhood! It was so lovely to see them.

the art of the top knot

Summer's in the air and so is the heat. Sweeping your hair up in a top knot (a la Elizabeth Olsen or Ashley Greene) is a simple, but elegant way to keep your hair off your shoulders.

Here's a quick tutorial on how to create this look (without a rubber band!)

{materials: a handful of bobby pins, a brush (optional), and a headband}

Step 1: Gather your hair in a high ponytail (you can use a brush to do this)

Step 2: Twist your hair counterclockwise until you reach the tips of your hair

Step 3: Secure the edges of your bun with bobby pins

When you're finished pinning your hair, it should look something like this!

Step 4: Finish the look off with a chic headband

dressing up a sundress

My outfit today is inspired by a Balenciaga floral dress worn by Gossip Girl's Blair Waldorf.

Floral sundresses are one of the first things that come to my mind when I think about summer. They are sweet, cheerful, and quite easy to accessorize!

For a “stroll in the park” look, I chose to wear a belted sweater, pink wedges, and a simple pearl necklace.

printed shorts and a sweet treat

I was delighted to find out that bold prints are in this season because my sister recently gave me a pair of printed shorts she had bought years ago.

When wearing an item with a bold print, it is best to make sure the rest of your outfit is neutral or monochrome. I went with a sheer black top.

After walking for a bit, we decided to go out to Finale, a local dessert shop and bakery. We decided to get the apple crumble pie, which was simply delicious. The crust was crunchy, but the apple filling was soft, moist, and sweet.

a coffee outing

Today was yet another gorgeous day, so we decided to take a walk around my new neighborhood. As a treat, we ordered coffee at Dwelltime. I tried the cappuccino, which was as delicious as it was pretty to look at.

Because of the 70 degree weather, I felt like wearing a simple dress today, so I went with my gray dress, cinched at the waist.

What I love about the summer is that you don’t have to worry about sweaters or coats, which can complicate matters when trying to match your outfit. The summer is for showcasing your favorite pieces and embellishing them with accessories.

classic with a modern twist

Since it was warm today (85 degrees!) I wanted to wear something light and casual, but I also wanted to be chic since we were staying at the Liberty Hotel. I went with a white button-down and a pair of black shorts from H&M.

To add a bit of color to my ensemble, I wore a gold headband my sister had loaned me.

I finished off my look with a Sephora by OPI polish in Opening Night.

a stroll down mass ave

We decided to take a stroll down Mass Ave, and the good weather inspired me to try on a few new items I had recently gotten.

The navy sweater is quite versatile, so I look forward to styling it with future outfits!
